Who we are

ReadmeDesign is a free developer tools website created and operated by Shubham Sharma, an independent software engineer based in India. The site provides a GitHub profile README generator, a live markdown sandbox editor, a profile analyzer, blog guides, and free templates — all at no cost.

What data we collect — and what we don't

What we do NOT collect:

• README content you type into the generator or sandbox. These tools run entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Nothing you type is transmitted to our servers.
• Your name, email, or profile information unless you choose to send it to us (e.g., via the contact form or by emailing us).
• Passwords. There are no accounts on ReadmeDesign.
• Payment information. Everything on the site is free. No purchases, no billing.

What we DO collect (automatically, through third-party services):

• Page views and session data via Google Analytics — which pages you visited, how long you stayed, your approximate country, your browser and device type. This data is anonymous and aggregated.
• Ad interaction data via Google AdSense — which ads were shown, whether you clicked them. This is how the site earns revenue to stay free.
• Server logs — your IP address and browser user agent are logged automatically by our web host when you request pages. These logs are kept for up to 30 days for security purposes and are not used for marketing.

Cookies

ReadmeDesign itself does not set cookies. However, the third-party services we use (Google AdSense and Google Analytics) do set cookies in your browser. These cookies are used to:

• Remember your ad preferences and prevent the same ad from showing repeatedly
• Measure which pages and features are most popular (Analytics)
• Serve ads that are relevant to your browsing interests (AdSense — this is the personalised advertising cookie)

You can opt out of Google's personalised advertising by visiting adssettings.google.com. You can also install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on to prevent Analytics from collecting your data.

Most browsers also allow you to block or clear cookies entirely in their privacy settings.

How we use the data we do collect

The analytics data collected through Google Analytics is used only to understand how the site is being used — which tools are popular, which blog posts are helpful, and where people get stuck. This helps me decide what to build next and what to improve.

We do not use this data to build individual profiles, sell to advertisers, or share with any third party beyond what's described in this policy.

If you contact us via email, we use your email address only to reply to your message. We don't add you to any mailing list without your explicit permission.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have certain rights regarding your personal data:

• Right to access: You can request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
• Right to deletion: You can ask us to delete any personal data we hold. Since we collect almost nothing, this usually means asking us to delete any emails you've sent us.
• Right to opt out of advertising: You can opt out of personalised ads via Google's Ad Settings.
• GDPR (EU residents): If you are in the European Union, you have additional rights under GDPR including the right to data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
• CCPA (California residents): California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected and to request deletion under the California Consumer Privacy Act. We do not sell personal information.

Children's privacy

ReadmeDesign is designed for developers and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to this policy

If we make significant changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We won't notify you by email unless the changes are material and affect data you've provided to us.
