Section 01

Who these terms apply to

These Terms of Service apply to anyone who uses ReadmeDesign — the website at readmedesign.com and all tools, templates, and content published on it. "We", "us", and "our" refers to ReadmeDesign and its operator, Shubham Sharma. "You" means anyone visiting or using the site.

By using ReadmeDesign, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site. That's it — no complicated opt-in required.

Section 02

Using the site to generate content that violates any law
Section 03

Ownership of content you generate

When you use the generator or sandbox to create a README, the output belongs to you. We make no claim over the markdown files, profile text, or any content you produce using our tools.

You don't need to credit ReadmeDesign in your README. There's no "made with ReadmeDesign" attribution requirement. We include a small comment at the bottom of generated files by default, but you're free to remove it.

However: The tools themselves — the generator code, the sandbox code, the templates as published on this site, and all blog content — remain the intellectual property of ReadmeDesign and Shubham Sharma. You may not copy these and publish them elsewhere.
Section 04

The site is provided "as is"

ReadmeDesign is a free, independently operated side project. We do our best to keep it running reliably, but we can't guarantee 100% uptime or that the tools will always work perfectly in every browser or environment.

We are not liable for:

In plain terms: we try hard to make this work well, but we're not responsible if something goes wrong.

Section 05

Third-party links and services

ReadmeDesign links to and embeds third-party services including GitHub, Shields.io, github-readme-stats, and others. These services have their own terms and privacy policies. We're not responsible for how they behave or what they do with your data.

When you use the README generator and then paste the output onto your GitHub profile, services like github-readme-stats will make requests using your GitHub username to display live statistics. Those requests are governed by the terms of those third-party services, not ours.

Section 06

Advertising

ReadmeDesign uses Google AdSense to display advertisements. These ads help cover the cost of running the site and allow everything to remain free.

Ads are served by Google and are subject to Google's own terms and privacy policies. We do not control which specific ads appear. If you see an ad that is inappropriate or offensive, you can report it to Google directly using the "Why this ad?" link that appears next to every ad.

Note for AdSense users: Clicking on ads intentionally or repeatedly to generate revenue (click fraud) is a violation of Google's terms and is also a violation of these terms. Please only interact with ads that genuinely interest you.
Section 07

Accounts and user submissions

ReadmeDesign does not currently require accounts. There is no login, no profile, and no user database on our end.

If you submit content through the site — for example, submitting your profile to a community showcase, or sending a message via the contact form — you grant us permission to display or respond to that content as appropriate. You remain the owner of anything you submit.

We reserve the right to remove any user-submitted content that is spam, offensive, illegal, or violates these terms.

Section 08

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms occasionally. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the new terms.

We won't make changes that retroactively affect content you've already generated or actions you've already taken.

Section 09

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. If there is ever a dispute, it will be handled under Indian jurisdiction. That said, we'd much rather resolve any issue directly through conversation — please email us first.

Section 10

Contact

Questions about these terms? Something unclear? Something you think is unfair? I'm genuinely open to feedback on this.

These terms are meant to be fair and readable, not to create legal barriers between you and a free tool. If something doesn't seem right, tell me.
